bliss in the form of cappuccinos and croissants

i'm almost afraid to write about this because i don't want to go in and not be able to find a seat; then again, i don't want it to lack the business it needs to survive and disappear like so many of my favorite neighborhood establishments have in the last few months, (RIP silent h, pennylicks).

i first discovered bakeri, on wythe between north 7th and 8th, a couple of months ago - but never had the time to stop in until today. inside, a mix of flea market chic, parisian patisserie, pastoral gem, and gluten-filled delight. there are stacks of pastries and mis-matched china and tall piles of cookbooks and flavor combinations that i go weak-in-the-knees for (i.e. lavender + anything). i could sit in here for hours (and i did, but shh) with a book (today, revisiting salinger's short stories), a hot drink, and the occasional bite of one of their freshly-baked mini-croissants and not feel rushed or bored or stressed about anything else happening in my often chaotic life. the fact that the scenery is so genuinely adorable is just the cherry on top of a very delicious sundae.

visit, keep them open, but please, please don't ruin it for me!
