"I did not have 3,000 pairs of shoes, I had 1060."

I've been spending a lot of time lately thinking about my relationship to my personal style, especially my almost institutionally addictive compulsion towards accessories, especially shoes. From the moment I spy a piece on the runway - a great shoe, handbag, or other statement piece (that, notably, doesn't come with the burden of crushing my soul by being unavailable in my size), I begin fiending for it, stalking websites like Net-a-Porter or (incredibly patient) sales associates at my favorite boutiques in Soho. For years, now, I've been known among my friends (and fellow bloggers) as the accessories girl. Even stylist friends of mine come over to scope out what they can borrow for shoots and editorials! You know you've got a problem when your personal wardrobe begins reviling the fashion closets of small magazines -- okay, this might be an exaggeration.

Obviously, my tendency to gravitate towards accessories has been shaped and influenced by my relationship to my body, and the frequent challenges (and disappointments) I had growing up as a fashion-loving lady. Even if my outfits were relegated to an all-black fashion fallback, I could throw in a great metallic bag or a sparkly pair of shoes and feel fantastic. So maybe that neon laser-cut lace effect leather skirt by Christopher Kane was a no-go, but the clutch? Do-able. Or the shoes...  shoes are always my go to, and that is why my footwear collection, built over the span of the last decade, has reached (just fractionally) Imelda Marcos style proportions. A few of my blog readers and friends have asked me to share my collection, but to avoid looking like the fashion hoarder that I am, I've decided to share some of my favorites. Miu Miu FW11 glitter heels & booties, be damned - you'll be joining the ranks some day.

The ones that get daily love and affection - my favorite black flats.

Patricia Blanchet glitter lace-up oxfords purchased last year from Modcloth.

At 5'7'' I'm not exactly short, but working in fashion and being surrounded by 6' models makes any extra height highly favorable! Black wedges are an essential part of my wardrobe, for height and comfort. Deena&Ozzy from Urban Outfitters.

Leopard? Check. Scalloped edges? Check. Comfortable lace up booties? Check! From Topshop.

My 25th birthday shoe. The dusty rose color is perfect! See by Chloe from Net-a-Porter. Similar on sale here.

You know that pair of shoes reserved for really, really special occasions? Like birthdays? Or New Years Eve? That's this pair, from Lanvin SS09. They're definitely what myself and other New Yorkers refer to as a taxi-shoe - the ones you wear from your door, to the car, to the door of the restaurant, and straight back into a car.

Hands-down, my favorite pair in my wardrobe.... I'm sure they need no introduction. Miu Miu SS10.

In love with these. They make me feel like I'm totally in charge of everything. Spectator heels from Chanel.
