Nitehawk Cinema | Midnight on Berry
I'm trying to figure just how to articulate my experience last night to be as cinematic, beautiful, and quintessentially New York as it felt, but it's hard to do just that without sounding overly sentimental or saccharine. But try to picture it: you leave your apartment in an adorable polka-dotted frock just as a cool breeze washes the streets, and no less than 3 blocks from your home, the sky opens up for a torrential downpour. What was a perfectly coiffed 'do and a subtle-but-done face of makeup suddenly looks like you walked into your shower, fully clothed, and stepped right on out into the streets. But for some reason, it was okay. I didn't mind that I was drenched before I even made it to my destination.
Anyways, the plan for the night was to meet Jeremy (birthday boy!), Taryn, and Helene at Nite Hawk Cinema -- a brand new theater/restaurant/bar that opened up in my neighborhood. It has kind of flown under the radar, which I like, and again write with hesitation to not blow-up a spot that is pretty close to perfect just as it is. The concept is fairly simple, but difficult to execute well: A small three-screen theater with tables at the seats for patrons to enjoy food and drinks while they watch their movie. We picked Midnight in Paris - perfect for the night, the setting, the company, and my Woody Allen 
After the movie, we headed to Hotel Delmano - one of my favorite neighborhood cocktail bars. I won't bother sharing just how close it is to my home, or how frequently I'm there, but trust me that it's the most beautiful bar in Brooklyn with perfectly crafted libations. Delmano is hardly a secret (further proved that it was still packed well past midnight on a Tuesday), but it's still one of my favorite spots.
