Pink & Bows & Lace

Marais USA Mary Jane flats

Though my style tends to be a mixture of all-black-everything, edgy, fashion-forward pieces and feminine staples, most people who know me and my shopping habits know I'm also a sucker for a few things: bows, soft pink tones, and lace. It should come as no surprise then, that some of my recent indulgences have included all of the above. I'm wondering what is going on in my mind that I'm so much gravitating towards such feminine pieces and things, lately? Part of my "femme" identity has always been to toughen things up, but it seems like I've been easing up on that side of my style...

Chanel Nail Polish in "Steel" and "Jade Rose"
"Steel" is part of the new soho collection. It's kind of a perfect metallic black, bordering the edge of charcoal.

Last night I was lucky to attend the Nylon Magazine/H&M Soho party with my fashion-industry-partner-in-crime Julia Chesky. With a 25% discount thrown in, I knew I had to pick up this black lace top!

In just less than a week, I'll be going back to Los Angeles for a few events. It was just a few months ago that I was in California, soaking in the sunshine, but in the midst of a week of overcast skies and cold temperatures, I'm gearing up for a vacation that will (hopefully) be sunsoaked. One of my greatest California pleasures is stomping down on the gas pedal, with the windows down and the sunroof open, listening to songs from my teenage years - a mix of riot grrl and early nineties rock. I'm counting down the days, hours, minutes til I get there. I'm wondering how my feminine style evolution will fare with the change of scenery.
