I am almost nervous about how not-nervous I am about the adventure we're about to embark on. Long distance relationships have always deeply intimidated me, but my general feeling and approach to the next 10+ months is one of excitement. We have trips planned and new cities to discover (I'm dying to visit Charleston), and at the end of all of it, my boo thang is going to be a Doctor - so, hello. Plus, there are worse places to visit than New Orleans. In spite of being deathly ill last time we were there, it was a blast - and I'm more than ready to enjoy a cobbler at Bellocq and cozy up in what I'll inevitably turn into my New Orleans home, (do I get to claim part of it if I'm there once a month? I think so).On the drive down, we're making stops along Maryland, North Carolina, and Georgia - before settling in to the Big Easy, with my bags packed full with red lipstick, big sunglasses, and a whole lot of leopard print.I've got my Classic Rock Filled playlist ready-to-go (see below), but what do I wear for the 10-day journey, (don't worry, only three of those days are dedicated to road trippin')? What are the must-stop places along our route? And what on earth are the two of us to do when we realize that we actually just volunteered to live a couple-thousand miles apart for god knows how long? I've already got care packages planned out in my mind (and have subtly dropped hints that I wouldn't mind a surprise delivery from Sprout, and if that didn't work, hi, Ali - hint), but will a skype-session-a-day-keep-the-anxiety-at-bay? Here's hoping.
