A Bit More Dior - The Kind I Can Afford
About a month ago, I was invited to the Dior.com Cosmetics Launch - a really lovely, intimate affair at a bar in the Meatpacking District, where guests were introduced to check out the newly revamped Dior.com website and play with some new products from their beauty collection. I was thrilled that as a thank-you for attending their event, the Dior Beauty team sent some of their products to me to test out. Now that I've gotten a good amount of time to play with a product that I found very intimidating (Diorskin Airflash - a spray on foundation), fall in love with another (Diorskin Shimmer), and become reacquainted with an old staple (Diorshow Mascara), I feel like I can properly discuss their virtues.
I confess that while I don't really like wearing make-up on a daily basis (my daily routine goes to the extent of putting on mascara and some lip balm), I'm a bit of a junkie when it comes to trying new products. The one thing I really don't like trying on, however, is foundation - something I find cumbersome, heavy, and rarely properly matching my skin tone (pale, very pale). I was drawn to Diorskin Airflash, though, because it seemed light enough and sheer enough to go on smoothly and blend with my natural tone. While the bottle advises to spray the foundation directly onto your skin, I've found that the best application comes from spraying onto a brush and evenly distributing across the face and neck. It provides really amazing coverage and a photo-finish that is ideal for special occasions, but not something I'd ever use on a daily basis. That said, the shimmer is amazing! It's like a lighter, subdued version of NARS Orgasm - a blush I've used religiously for years.
While we're on the topic, here are some of my other essential beauty products!
1. Chanel Beauté Initiale Moisturizer
2. Lush Eau Roma Water & Lush Coalface Cleanser
3. Fresh Lip Treatment in Sugar Rose
4. Lipstick Queen Chinatown Glossy Lip Pencils; I literally have them all!
5. Diorshow Mascara
6. MAC Penultimate Liquid Liner; the PERFECT liquid liner.
7. Chanel Rouge Allure in "Dragon"; the absolutely best red lip, ever.
8. Illamsqua Concealer; It goes on like butter without feeling heavy or cakey.
9. A killer fragrance: I'm not a loyalist, I love switching perfumes, but I'm a huge fan of the Juliette Has a Gun series by Romano Ricci.
10. Glittery Nailpolish! Anna Sui's glitter polish has been a favorite since I picked up a bottle in Japan.
