Back to School

September has always felt like a time of rebirth and renewal - even though it's been a decade since I had my last official "back to school." This week marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah), NYFW, and, actually - a back-to-school, of sorts, for me, as I enter a start-up incubator program for Premme. It's also my favorite time of year to refresh and do a bit of out-with-the-old, in-with-the-new in my wardrobe (hint hint, it has a lot to do with the Levi's look above). While consumer activism can be kind of tricky territory, I really appreciate that brands like Levi's are putting money behind their views - like their recent pledge of $1million dollars in grants to end gun violence. Levi's definitely feels like a classic American brand to me, and this past year I've been thinking a lot about my identity as an American - especially as a third-culture kid (both my parents are immigrants from two different countries, and I was raised with a blend of both of their cultures and that of my hometown of Los Angeles). I can't tell you how much it means to me that the visual representation and reflection of what it means and looks like to be an "all american" girl has expanded to include people who look like my friends and I - with a multitude of ethnicities, cultures, and body types. This announcement came after my recent trip to Macy's to stock up on a few fall essentials, where I grabbed some go-to skinny jeans, a chic moto-bomber hybrid, and a couple of key layering pieces. I've been wearing the Levi's 711 skinny jeans (they come in both short and regular lengths) for a few years, and since Macy's has one of the largest selections of Levi's plus-size styles, I always browse there for new cuts and colors. What does your fall wardrobe refresh look like this year??
