Home Improvements

Move over, Tim Allen; You've got some major competition. Not really. In spite of weekly trips as a youngling to Home Depot with my Dad, I admit I'm not a very handy person. I could really use an Al Borland or Tool Time Girl of my own, most of the time, (and hey, whatever happened to JTT? Anyone got the 411?) So, it's probably not too surprising that little "home improvement" tasks are still on my to-do list, approaching two years of living in this apartment. Little things! I'm really excited about my new lamp (I love lamp), perched on top of a stack of magazines on my tree-stump&branches side table, oh, and - yes that IS a copy of Brooklyn Magazine! Subscribe here!

Lamp shade & base from Target.
Yeah, okay, it's been pointed out that I have a soft spot for clear home furnishings. Have you seen my ghost chairs?

Apartment Therapy To-Do List

• Paint my non-brick walls! Preferably a shade of dove grey.
• Bigger bookshelf! I've maxed out on space, thus my clever horizontal-stack space-saving trick... I promise I actually read. I don't just keep books as decoration in an effort to look smart.
• Rectangular dining table. It turns out, my round cafe dining table just doesn't make a great work space...
• Chandelier. Linear, modern, simple -- but sparkly.
• Organize. Organize, organize, organize. Organize.
• Fancy dishes and china. This is last on the list, both in terms of priority and literally being last on the list. But, ever since I saw a Patti Smith plate at A&G Merch a few weeks ago, I've been smitten. Kate Spade glassware has my heart, too.
