{STYLE} Pretty In Pink
Yesterday was a misty and almost-cold-but-too-humid-to-really-be-cold October day, and it was much welcomed after a seasonally inappropriate heatwave last week. My building's central HVAC system had already switched from "hot" to "cold," so I had a realtime reminder of that dark period in my life when I lived in a tiny Manhattan apartment with no air conditioning and a skylight; it virtually turned into an oven during the summers. Of course, 7-years later and having left that borough for a more spacious abode with central AC, a week without (and with the addition of a respiratorily-challenged pug) was enough to have me begging for cooler temps. At last!
I had originally spotted this pink coat at the ASOS FW13 Press Preview, and begged the PR team to pass along my message to the Curve buyers & designers that it please be included in both the main and Curve range.
It was a totally selfish request, and I don't know if that message ever got across The Atlantic, but the moment I saw it pop-up on the site, I expedited it to my home and kinda-sorta prayed that it would fit. I've been holding it and loving it and waiting for it to finally get cool enough that I could wear it without breaking a sweat (just the bare minimum, y'know), and the day has come. Swoon.
There was a time when I just wanted to get away with the cutest black coat I could find because searching for anything else that worked on my frame and made some kind of fashion statement felt hopeless and somewhat depressing, but I think this fall (and winter) will be much, much more cheerful with this sweet addition.
Update: I'm not the type to spend more than three-figures on a coat, but if you are, these pink coats from Rochas and Carven are not to be missed. And if pink just isn't part of your look, the same silhouette comes in white.
