{STYLE} That 70's Feeling
I don't think of myself as a shopper who necessarily chases trends -- I like what I like, and if that happens to fall on one runway or another, great! More chances are I'll find it on my favorite high-street shops. But I know a trend has really hit me when I'm suddenly pining after things I never would have thought to wear... Like high-waisted flared denim (these, specifically), and camel-colored suede. It gives me a moment of, wait, who am I? that is equal parts confusing and genuinely fun. As long as I don't look like I'm wearing a costume and waltzed off the set of a period piece, it's all good, right?
I shared some of my most favorite 70's inspired looks in the September issue of Marie Claire (out now with Miley Cyrus on the cover!), and my edit includes some seriously babely numbers - like this gotta-have-it velvet body con from Rachel Pally, but I've also been living for this simple A-line denim dress (that I wore as a top, cause why not), and a rotation of button-down A-line skirts.
