The Dannielle Dress

I can't believe it, but #NicoletteXAdditionElle is out in the universe!! I had the most amazing time in Toronto celebrating the launch of the dress collection at Addition Elle's flagship store, where I had the opportunity to meet girls who came in from all over Ontario, despite the unexpected snow, (if you're reading this, thank you!) Now I've made it to NYC where we have another fete on the horizon -- this time at Lord & Taylor, where the capsule is also being sold, (more info on the event, here). This dress, the Dannielle shirt dress, has been one of my favorites from the capsule from the start. The shape was inspired by one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe - a peach seashell-embroidered number, that I wanted to use as the foundation of a more wearable, year-round number. With the Addition Elle team, we decided to combine mesh and a gorgeous lace while infusing the body with savvy design details: a hidden crinoline to add a touch of volume to the swing of the dress, a real button-down placket and zipper at the back for easy dressing, and a tiny crystal button at the collar for a touch of sparkle. The Dannielle dress comes in black, making it the perfect work-to-weekend staple, as well as a gorgeous coral color, which I think is a fun addition for spring/summer and a great option for destination weddings. The Dannielle dress is also named after my real-life-friend (all the dresses are named after friends of mine, actually): Dannielle Owens-Reid! I first met Dannielle through Gabi, and then we reconnected years later and quickly became super-duper close. It's hard not to fall in love (platonically, duh) with people who are so ridiculously smart, funny, talented, and compassionate. Dannielle is one-half of the duo who founded Everyone Is Gay, The Parents Project, and co-wrote This is A Book for Parents of Gay Kids. These days she's working on an apparel venture and collective of her very own called Radimo, with a goal of bringing accessible, gender-neutral fashion to the marketplace. Can you tell I'm a proud friend?! I'm super proud.I wore the Dannielle dress out to a few meetings and then to dinner in LA with my lilac Loeffler Randall moto jacket and Coach "Justina" Booties, before wearing it again at the launch event in Toronto. Don't be surprised if you see my wearing it in heavy rotation... Consider this a fair warning. If you happen to be in NYC, I'd love to see you this Thursday, March 3rd, at Lord & Taylor! I'll be hosting an event there in celebration of the collection from 6-8PM, and there will be lots of fun treats.
