Lanvin x H&M
Lanvin for H&M has been the collaboration heralded throughout the world, and I continue to be impressed with the astounding amount of money that H&M has to have spent advertising and promoting Lanvin's capsule collaboration, from TV spots to a VIP-drizzled "couture" runway show at The Pierre that brought Anna Dello-Russo down the catwalk with a poodle. I'm a little embarrassed to admit how early I actually left my home to be one of hundreds of fashion-addicted young ones to be among the first to have their pick at the collection, but I can say, at least, that I did not show up early enough to have justified bringing an inflatable couch (yes, really, this happened) or legitimately napping in sleeping bags on the sidewalk. I felt rather redeemed for the absurdity of skipping sleep for clothes when the H&M staff handed out Lanvin ♥ 's H&M tote bags, coffee, and croissants (tres Parisian, merci, Alber).
Being a huge fan of Lanvin, and more over, of Alber Elbaz (seriously, I just want to hug him), I was really excited for this collection - even with the resounding disappointment that my friends seemed to be feeling after seeing the Look Book. I decided that the dresses weren't practical for my current lifestyle, but managed to walk away with most of the pieces I had hoped for, with the exception of the Tulle jacket that, for some reason, was impossible for me to find. I think the entire collection is fun, playful, and brings the magic of Lanvin to a wider audience, and overall, I must say I'm really impressed with the quality, attention to detail, and overall organization versus other H&M collaboration launches in the past.
I promise to do an outfit post with some of these pieces soon, and per Refinery 29's guidance, I'll even try to pair them with my Jeffrey Campbell Lita's from Solestruck, (trend-whore that these shoes might make me, I can't resist a shoe that pushes me over 6-feet tall and manages to feel like walking on clouds).
Did you head out to the streets for Lanvin x H&M? I'd love to hear how your experiences were!
