Red Head in Polka Dots
I have wanted to be a redhead for ages (my Dad will remind me that I am a whole 1/8th Irish -- though notably, black Irish...), and finally took the plunge last week before New York Fashion Week went into full swing. Apparently it took dying my hair shades of blue and purple, and thus concluding that bleaching my hair would not cause me to go bald (something my mother successfully convinced me would happen from a very young age) to finally go red.
Really Awesome Red Heads That Inspire Me To Also Be Awesome: Vivienne Westwood, Grace Coddington (who I met last week!!!), Christina Hendricks, Devin McGrath (my BFF and partner-in-most-crimes), Lucille Ball, Emily Dickinson, Queen Elizabeth the 1st, Tilda Swinton (once upon a time), Claire Danes circa My So Called Life, Rita Hayworth, Florence Welch (whose newest single I'm obsessed with), Kate Winslet, Katharine Hepburn, Elsa Billgren, The Heroine in Most Roy Lichtenstein Paintings, and many more.

One of the other super fun things about having a completely new hair color? Experimenting with new tones in make-up! I've always worn blushes with super pink tones, which was all great as a brunette, but I'm loving warm peach and light bronze as a redhead! True reds and hot pinks still win my heart when it comes to lip colors.
Oh, PS, I know I've hinted at my affiliation with Marie Claire previously (namely, my fashion week coverage), but did you know I'm one of their new columnists, starting with the October Issue - on stands now? Check it out, and please let me know what you think!
