{STYLE} Stripes, Stripes, Stripes

Photos by Lydia Hudgens

There are a few reoccurring themes in the fashion world that always claim me as their victim: black and white stripes (almost never any other color combination), a great lip and/or lipstick print (or this brooch, which is kind of killing me), and the obvious ones in which any friend or reader is already well versed - pink, cats, bows, sparkles, and generally anything shiny. Sorry not sorry, magpie realness, etc, etc. I'm certainly not one to fall for a bodycon silhouette - having a very strong preference for cinched-in-the-waist shapes that present the illusion that my body is not an inverted triangle, but I had a hard time resisting this brilliantly designed piece by Monif C: bold black and white, strategically placed horizontal and diagonal stripes, and little cut outs at the shoulders (hidden in my photos, but see here) that are just a slight hint of sexy that it still works with my usually-sweet style.

I've been in London for the last week (can't wait to share everything I've been up to here!), and it's been a huge source of serious style inspiration, with lots of exciting (plus-size) fashion news happening all over the globe, too - and just on the heels of fashion week! A couple things -- 1.) Eloquii has finally relaunched under new management; 2.) Swimsuits4All has launched their incredibly expansive designer boutique, (and I'm already wishlisting for a yet-to-be-planned tropical getaway); 3.) ASOS Curve released their SS14 Look Book (the floral blazer!!!); 4.) Collection by Evans has launched worldwide (following the release of Cut by Evans last week); and finally, 5.) I attended BPSFW this past weekend with Navabi and was introduced to some wonderful new brands and designers.
